Breathing

Tips for breathing:

It may sound silly but did you ever think that something as simple as breathing properly could help improve your health?

Since the moment you were born, you have been breathing. But, has anyone ever stopped to teach you how to do it properly? Yes, there is a proper way to breathe. By default you may already be doing it, but this email is for those of us that may need some improvement.

The Consequences of Poor Breathing

Poor breathing habits can give rise to a lot of unexpected adverse effects like:

  1. Less Energy — Bad breathing decreases your body’s ability to deliver oxygen to the cells. The cells get stressed and have to prioritize survival instead of development.

  2. Stress — Poor breathing patterns, like short and forced breaths can result body tension and higher stress levels.

  3. Higher Blood Pressure — Poor breathing patterns can cause the blood vessels to constrict, which can lead to higher blood pressure and force the heart to work harder.

However, proper breathing can have a real positive impact.

Benefits of Proper Breathing

  1. More energy

  2. Reduce Stress

  3. Lower Blood Pressure

  4. Reduced Pain

  5. Better Blood Flow

  6. Better Sleep

  7. Improves Immunity

  8. and much more...

5 Ways to Improve Your Breathing:

  1. Use your Nose

Think of your nose as a little factory that refines and prepares the air coming in to be used by the body.

  2. Breathe Deep With The Diaphragm

The air you breathe in through your nose should go all the way down in your belly. 70–80% of the inhaling should be done by the diaphragm so that your breathing is nice and deep.

  3. Relax

By taking control of your breathing and making it more relaxed, your body ”tunes in” and becomes relaxed as well, which leads to better functioning in general.

  4. Breathe in a Rhythm

The hormones in the body follow our natural rhythm. One example is melatonin that is released when you’re going to sleep.

  5. Breathe Quietly

Coughing, snoring, sniffling and so on, are suboptimal breaths in disguise. A breathing pattern that contains a lot of them puts a considerable strain on the body.

Try setting a timer to check up on your breathing through out the day.

It's the little things that can make a big difference in how your body reacts and how you feel.

Until next time. Make good choices and stay healthy! 😀
